CHEK Across BC
Christian Home Education in the Kootenays and across B.C is in its second year of operation. We are pleased to provide a faith-based home schooling program for families, that provides opportunity to use Christian curriculum material, of the parents choice, for the full integration of faith and learning in all subject areas. Teachers provide face-to-face contact with the families in the various communities where the families reside. The program originated in the Kootenays and has extended across the province. Currently, students from Creston, Castlegar, Cranbrook, Nelson, Grand Forks, Prince George and the lower mainland are enrolled in the program, ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our Principal, John Solly, and Superintendent, Bill Wilson, both B.C. educators, are based in Creston. The teachers are BC certified and live in the same region as the families to whom they give educational support. Group activities are held in each community, on a regular basis. CHEK is operated by the Nelson Christian School Society and is evaluated yearly by the Independent School Branch of the Ministry of Education. The teacher partners with the families and is responsible to ensure that the students are meeting the BC learning outcomes. Please take a look at our CHEK Parent Student Handbook for more detailed information. Those interested in applying to the program must submit an application form. The CHEK office can be reached at 250-352-0526 or 1-888-352-CHEK (2435) or electronically at info@chekabc.com
